While lesser known in cooler regions, Viognier is the premier white grape for the warmer, dry climate in Paso Robles, CA where these grapes were grown. Our Viognier is special as it is growin in a true old-world fashion. We trained these vines up two vertical stakes to form tee-pees. This style of planting is done in Cote-Rotie and Condrieu in the Northern Rhone region of France and these vines were the very first Viognier grapes planted like this in America. These vines produce lower yields, but the clusters have more concentrated flavor.
