This wine is predominantly Mourvèdre, with equal parts Grenache and Syrah. A smooth GSM blend, Horcrux is rich and round with full bodied ripe, dark berry flavors that open up to an earthy, lengthy finish.
Horcrux was an exciting blend for us as we were lucky enough to conferment these grapes, with extended maceration for 40 days on the skins. It was our desire to create a wine that embodied the Rhone influence of Paso Robles. Much like those in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, our GSM has approachable fruit, full structure, and mellow tannin. We enjoy this wine with many pairings, but most specifically savory red meats and game, as well as barbecue or pizza.
According to lore, Horcrux is a magical object in which a person has placed a piece of his or her soul. We find this term applicable as each bottle receives extreme care and effort. As winemakers we follow our grapes throughout the ripening, fermenting, and aging process. Our lives are dedicating to crafting the best possible blend, and in a sense each bottle holds a small piece of our soul .
